Emily Merryweather, M.A., NCC, LPCC, is a licensed clinical counselor (LPCC 4676). Emily is an expert in mindfulness, trauma focused cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive psychology, psychodynamic therapy, family systems therapy, palliative care, and supportive therapy for caregivers.

Using a bio-psycho-social perspective, Emily conducts assessments, diagnoses and treatment planning, crisis management, and evidence-based behavioral health interventions.

With children and adolescents, Emily utilizes mindfulness, positive psychology, attachment theory, resiliency and coping interventions, family therapy, and a holistic, developmental approach to presenting struggles.

With college students and adults, Emily utilizes mindfulness, positive psychology, psychodynamic therapy, and stress-reduction interventions to facilitate change, insight, coping, and resiliency.

With a collaborative approach, treatment will focus on providing you and your family with new coping tools, adaptive life skills, enhancing existing strengths, and insight into everyday behaviors that promote a positive and healthy life with purpose and balance.

Emily collaborates closely with Dr. Maker, parents, schools, pediatricians, psychiatrists, health care providers, and teachers to provide a comprehensive team approach for all clients.

  • Member of an interdisciplinary research and therapy team at the University of California, San Diego, Family Medicine and Public Health studying positive therapeutic outcomes.
